ROMOTOP spol. s r.o. was established in 1992 and presented itself as a manufacturer of hearth stoves of state-of-the-art construction and interesting design, which then newly started finding their application in this country. Superior offer corresponding with current interest in additional heating by wood and commencing support to recoverable power resources in Europe have brought global development of the company, which has become a dominant manufacturer of hearth stoves in the Czech Republic, finding outlets even in foreign markets where the company continuously makes efforts to increase its influence and market share.

Increasing technical and environmental requirements in the EU countries resulted in need of systematic research and development. The Research Energy Centre of the Mining School - Technical University Ostrava has become the partner in this area. Close and systematic co-operation has been agreed, with focus on experimental studies of combustion process in conditions of low-performance fireplace. The results obtained have been applied immediately in structural solution of new types of stoves. State-of-the-art and so far unused element in solution of combustion aerodynamics has been the application of CDF (mathematical model using Fluent program), the application of which was significantly facilitated by experience of the employees of company MORE s.r.o.

In 2001 - 2004, this co-operation obtained support of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce from funds of the Consortium program identified as FD - K/097 STATE-OF-THE-ART WOOD BURNING FIREPLACE FOR LOCAL HEATING. The co-operation resulted in immediate effect that continued even after completion of the project. Our company with its proven partners would like to draw on success and effectiveness of this project also in this year when we have filed a request to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce for support of research and development of hearth stove combustion process. The project has not been approved yet; nevertheless, we believe that the topic will be interesting for the commission and the project will be implemented.

ROMOTOP spol. s r.o. co-operates with academic community also in the area of assignment and solution of theses or year papers, thus involving the students of the Mining School - TU Ostrava directly into solution of specific technical problems. Annual involvement of several students is the evidence that the topic of wood burning in low-performance fireplaces is still interesting in spite of numerous co-existing technical problems
